In this case, Dr. Bristol-Mártir prepares an oral sedative to make your child sleepy and relaxed and alternatively, nitrous oxide can be offered. In this instance, your child stays aware of their surroundings and the effects wear off very quickly once the nitrous oxide stops being administered.
For Those with More Intense Needs
A small number of children require deeper sedation, possibly even a general anesthetic. This may include:

- Children who are unable to follow instructions
- Children with traumatic dental experiences
- Children who will receive major dental treatment
